DON’T BE A RESOLUTION

I have dreams. Not resolutions. I have goals and plans. Not resolutions. I have a vision mission. Not resolutions. I don’t start on the 1st of the New year. Not resolutions. I start on the 8th of every month of the year. And, not resolutions. I started this last year, on my Birthday, when I finally came to terms that I’m getting old and that time just keeps passing by. And, it’s insanity to think that we expect different results by doing the same thing. As Earl Nightingale said, “Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” And, the past year was rough for me. I got sick and this became a huge set back which was a failure at that time but became one of the biggest blessings that opened up doors for me. So, with that being said, I do yearly, monthly, and then two more check-ins: New Years Eve/Day and my Birthday. And, when I do start my goals and plans, they start on the 8th. The goals and plans revolve around the different aspects of my life:

Physical Health, appearance, etc

Financial

Spiritual

Social

Intellectual

Mental

Emotional

Family

Academics

Maslow’s Theory (basic necessities: food, water, sleep, etc.)

Etc.

Then, you narrow it down from there by putting bullet forms underneath them. Separated from that is de-clutter and cleanliness or organization of your home. That is always a well-oiled movement machine that you have to always do, or rather, another word: Habit. Routines.

So, this is my introduction to this blog. A state of reality. Where dreams become reality by transitioning them from the inspiration that they are into SMART goals and plans. Specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-sensitive goals and plans.

The plans that I see for this blog is that I have:

Quotes every end of the blog, like inspirational quotes

Improvement in my writing

Evaluation on my growth

Inspirational stories of others’ self-improvements

Self-reflections on my life and moving forward

Gratitude lists

Mindfulness approaches and their results, benefits to my health

Articles I’ve read and then my take on them

Books I’ve read and my take on them

Speakers or authors that I’ve read/listened and my take on them

Sharing about authors/speakers with you so you can tag along if you want with me

Etc… basically anything that is based on my well-rounded wheel and how it has affected me in my self-improvement and growth.

In conclusion, I sort of do have a New Year’s resolution, except it isn’t for 1 year. It’s for 5 years. It began in 2015, August 8th. But, like I said, every New Year’s eve/day, I do a check-in and do a self-evaluation/self-reflection type of thing and then I add stuff to my list. Like, this past one these are the things that I have added:

DON’T GIVE A FLYING *FUCK* WHAT ANYBODY SAYS

DON’T PUT UP WITH PEOPLE’S BULL SHIT

DON’T TAKE BULL SHIT FROM ANYBODY

Self-reflect daily

And, of course, always look at my vision board and always ask:

What

When

Why

Who

How

… so that I can always continue to grow.

I’m doing this for the quality of living, happiness, wealth, joy and prosperity. I only have this life. I only have this age for 365 days and then I’m another year older. I realized this last year and so I began this 5-year resolution. So, I have direction. That way, when the new year comes, I’m already easing into my next mile-stone, because if you’re only starting a new year’s resolution like, RIGHT NOW, on the 1st of the new year?… by the time you actually get into the groove of it, it’ll already be the end of the year—IF, you even get that far… or whoever. But, that’s another story.

So, if you wanna’ get to know me, don’t be shy. Leave a comment below. Happy New Year, and make it a good one. This year’s going to be a good year. I’m entering mine great. I have a sexy, handsome, loving sweetheart. A great job. A roof over my head. Wheels. My Health. An absolutely great start to my New Year, 2016.

And, to end today’s blog, here’s the quote of the blog:

“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” By Earl Nightingale, my favorite quote of the year.
